Recently, while watching one of my watercolor works slowly come alive through augmented reality, I was reminded of something important. The technology itself was not what moved people most. It was the pause that followed.

The quiet moment when someone stopped, reflected, and connected the artwork to a memory, a feeling, or a question within themselves. That moment stayed with me. Because something is shifting — not only in technology, but in how we perceive, learn, and create meaning.

The Shift from Information to Experience

We are moving from information to experience. From observing the world to stepping into it.

What is often called immersive intelligence — the convergence of extended reality, AI, and spatial technologies— is not simply about smarter systems. It is about environments we can move within, interact with, and emotionally experience. And perhaps that changes us too.

Much of the conversation around AI has focused on automation and efficiency. Yet at the same time, deeply human capabilities are becoming more important: reflection, imagination, interpretation, presence, and the ability to navigate uncertainty without immediate answers.

Perhaps this is why immersive experiences matter. Not because they overwhelm us with stimulation — but because they can invite us into deeper attention. A slower form of seeing. A different kind of participation. A space where meaning has time to emerge.

Between Leadership, Art, and Immersion

Over the years, I have explored many of these questions across both boardrooms and artistic practice — through leadership, executive coaching, immersive learning, spatial technologies, and increasingly through art itself.

As former Chair of the art museum Artipelag, I became fascinated by what happened when people no longer simply observed art, but stepped into it through immersive experiences such as Imagine Monet. Through leadership and governance work connected to AI and transformation, I also saw how emerging technologies were beginning to reshape not only what organizations do — but how humans perceive, learn, and relate.

Art as a Practice of Immersive Intelligence

Increasingly, I see art as a form of creative R&D for the human experience. A way of exploring how emerging technologies reshape perception, participation, memory, and emotional connection before their roles fully stabilize in society.

Again and again, I return to the same underlying question: How do humans continue to create meaning, orientation, and connection in environments shaped by increasing technological complexity?

Perhaps immersive intelligence ultimately asks us not only to build more intelligent systems — but to become more present, reflective, and relational humans within them. Because maybe the most important immersive space is not virtual at all. But the inner space where meaning slowly emerges.

Entering the Space Between

These explorations have also shaped my own artistic practice as Novisali. Across virtual exhibitions such as just launched Inter Spatia Spei, artworks from the series Hopepunk, Human Cartography, Sparks of Hope, and Hopepunk Equinox are presented as immersive spaces for reflection — where watercolor, digital layering, augmented reality, sound, movement, and AI-supported reflection begin to intersect.

The intention is not simply to display images, but to create environments people can pause within. Spaces where viewers are invited not only to observe, but to participate in meaning-making itself.

The experiences also pffer to include a guided reflection through the AI-assisted Novisali Art Reflection Guide, where gentle questions invite visitors to explore their own responses to the artworks: What draws your attention? What feels unresolved? What quietly asks to be seen?

Perhaps immersive intelligence becomes most meaningful not when technology replaces human reflection — but when it deepens it.

“Sometimes harmony hides in the smallest fold of a leaf.”

The Power of Attention

After exploring shapes, angles, and the hidden patterns that hold the world together, I now move closer — into the intimacy of details.

To move close is to listen. The nearer we come, the more infinite things appear. Pigment becomes terrain, a shadow turns into structure, a reflection reveals rhythm.

Both in art and leadership, this is a dance of distance — zooming in to sense what is truly present, zooming out to see where it belongs.
Each shift of focus changes what we perceive, yet both are needed to understand the whole.

Balance begins when attention becomes movement.

Door at Familia Segrada by Gaudi

The Language of Balance and Symmetry

Balance is not stillness — it is a quiet motion, barely seen.
Symmetry, its companion, reflects the way one side listens to another.

In nature, these principles appear everywhere: butterfly wings that mirror without perfection, petals that align along invisible axes, water that reflects the world yet wavers with the wind.
Life, like art, thrives on imperfect symmetry.

To sense balance is to recognize that harmony often hides in difference — that a system, a painting, or a team breathes through the tension between its parts.

True balance is relationship — the dialogue that keeps things alive.

Zooming In — The World Within the World

When I create, paint or photograph closely, the world expands.
A grain of pigment disperses like a galaxy. A fibre of paper carries the memory of a tree.
Form dissolves into essence, and new symmetries reveal themselves: the curve of colour echoing an unseen arc, the texture of metal meeting the softness of light.

In leadership, the same applies. As the Thinkers50 “Zoom In, Zoom Out” essay describes, great leaders navigate both the micro and the macro — seeing not just the task, but the person; not only the report, but the rhythm beneath it.
Zooming in is not control — it is care, a kind of presence.

To zoom in is to meet reality from within.

Zooming Out — Seeing the Larger Pattern

Then comes the moment to step back.
What once felt infinite becomes a fragment of a larger composition — a note within a wider harmony.

In art, this means feeling the whole through proportion and flow.
In strategy, it means sensing how each detail connects to culture, context, and time.
And in our digital world, trust requires this same rhythm — the ability to move between the human and the systemic.

The World Economic Forum’s “Seven Ps of Digital Trust” captures this balance beautifully:

Zoom in to the human side — Personalization, Perception, Protection.

Zoom out to the ecosystem — Proficiency, Provenance, Payment, Prevalence.

Together, they describe a symmetry between individual experience and collective responsibility — between intimacy and infrastructure.
Just as art needs both pigment and perspective, trust in an AI age depends on both detail and design.

Trust, like balance, is built in motion — between nearness and vision.

The Rhythm of Seeing and Sensing

Ellen MacArthur once shared how, at sea, she learned to “zoom in” on each wave while “zooming out” to navigate her route across the world.
That rhythm — attention shifting between the immediate and the infinite — is what connects art, leadership, and trust.

In creating or painting, I work one step at a time, yet the horizon remains in mind.
In boardrooms, leaders weigh single decisions while holding entire futures.
And in our digital landscapes, every algorithmic choice ripples into culture and confidence.

The work — whether artistic or strategic — is not about control but about connection.

The balance of detail and distance is the essence of foresight.

Every artwork is a rehearsal for harmony.
The brush finds its rhythm, the colour its counterweight, and the hand learns to listen more than it moves.

When I compose, I often start with symmetry — a repeated line, a mirrored hue — and then disrupt it, letting imbalance bring life.
That same principle shapes effective leadership and digital design: stability requires movement, and trust requires flexibility.

Maps of Togetherness – The Art of Finding Our Way to One Another

(På Svenska nedan)

What if we all carry maps within us — not of places, but of people?
Maps drawn by encounters, memories, and dreams.
Maps where some paths lead us closer together, while others fade, waiting to be rediscovered.

The world around us changes rapidly, yet our longing for belonging is timeless.
Perhaps that’s where art becomes most vital — when it helps us see, feel, and understand how our paths intersect.

Stories as Bridges – A Shared Longing for Belonging

At the World Economic Forum’s session Storytellers: In Search of Belonging, cultural leaders and thinkers explored how storytelling can bridge differences and foster human connection:

“Through stories, we recognize ourselves in each other — and belonging begins.”

Creating and sharing stories is one way we weave our human maps — each experience becoming a route toward understanding.

Maps of Innovation – Where Research and Art Meet

This year’s Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to Philippe Aghion, professor at INSEAD, for his groundbreaking research on innovation, growth, and creative renewal.
His work shows how societies thrive when people are free to think differently, to collaborate, and to build institutions rooted in trust and creativity.

“Innovation,” says Aghion, “is not only an economic process — it is a profoundly human one.”

There’s a clear resonance between his theories and the role of art in times of change.
Both explore movement, relationships, and the ability to create something new from what already exists.
Where economics seeks to understand how societies grow through creativity, art seeks to understand how we grow through meaning and connection.

Maps as Mirrors – Reflecting Our Inner Landscapes

As Maria Popova writes in The Marginalian:

“Maps are always mirrors — reflecting not just the world as it is, but the world as we see it.”

Art allows us to mirror our own inner maps through the eyes of others.
When we encounter a work of art, an inner movement awakens — as if our memories start searching for paths that lead us home.
For a brief moment, we become co-cartographers of something greater.

Where Aghion studies how societies evolve through innovation, art explores how our inner geographies shift when we dare to meet one another.
One speaks of structures, the other of souls — yet both build the future.

Bridging Polarities – Between Inner and Outer Worlds

The theme Bridging Polarities at the Inner Development Goals Summit 2025 deepens the same inquiry: how we can bridge what seems divided — logic and feeling, science and art, the individual and the collective.
The summit highlights inner growth as the foundation for outer change — a thought that also flows through Maps of Togetherness.

Novisali takes part in this year’s IDG Summit, contributing to the exploration of how art can serve as a bridge between reflection, relationship, and renewal — a visual language for the inner dimensions that enable transformation.

Art, research, and inner development are, at their core, three languages for the same pursuit: understanding how we are connected.

When Art Becomes Human Cartography – About the Exhibition

Maps of Togetherness Art Exhibition by Novisali brings together works from the Human Cartography and Hopepunk series — two artistic explorations of connection and hope.

Here, lines and layers intertwine into a web of belonging, where boundaries dissolve and new pathways emerge between people, times, and worlds.
Human Cartography depicts our inner landscapes — the subtle movements between thought, feeling, and encounter.
Hopepunk carries the same energy but turns toward the light — a reminder that hope, care, and connection are acts of quiet resistance.

Each piece is a living map — tracing the movement between the visible and the invisible, between who we are and who we might become.

The exhibition blends traditional and digital painting, inviting viewers to step into a cartography of relationships — where art becomes a language for discovering the unseen threads that connect us.

Novisali is exhibiting Maps of Togetherness together with fellow artists from Danderyd Art Center at Församlingens Hus Danderyd (Angantyrvägen 39, Djursholm) from October 17–31, 2025. Opening hours are weekdays, 9 AM–4 PM, and Sundays 12.30-2PM. Welcome to experience the works of Novisali and other artists – in togetherness.

Closing Reflection

Perhaps all creation, in the end, is about drawing new maps — not of territory, but of trust.
Maps that trace the paths between you and me.
Maps where we meet, breathe, and remember that we belong.

Som Maria Popova skriver i The Marginalian:

When Nature Abstracts Itself — Lines, Layers, and Living Patterns

There are moments when nature feels like it is painting itself — silently, without pigment or brush.

A cactus spine crossing another, the spiral of a pine cone, the clustered rhythm of tiny leaves pushing toward the light. Each is an act of composition, an unconscious art that predates us.

In these forms, abstraction is not invention but revelation. The cactus arranges its spines in a geometry of defense and elegance — a living architecture of necessity. The pine cone folds inward and outward, spiraling according to mathematical principles it never studied. The carpet of small green stems interlaces into a quiet complexity, both ordered and wild.

These photographs, also featured in Novisali’s weekly reflection on photography and composition, invite us to notice nature’s way of composing — not by design, but by deep intention. The lens isolates, yet it also listens. Each frame becomes both mirror and metaphor, capturing the tactile truth of the world while revealing its inner abstraction.

Nature as the Original Abstract Artist

Look closely, and every natural form dissolves into geometry and pattern.

The cactus becomes a network of tension; the pine cone, a spiral of coded repetition; the ground cover, a fractal of resilience. Nature is the ultimate abstractionist — it creates through rhythm, proportion, and transformation.

When we paint, photograph, or sculpt these forms, we don’t imitate nature; we extend its language. Every brushstroke, every exposure, every act of noticing becomes a continuation of its endless experiment in form and balance.

This search for the abstract within the natural connects you with a long lineage of Nordic artists who saw nature not merely as subject, but as structure and consciousness.

Hilma af Klint, for instance, translated the geometry of flowers, shells, and spirals into symbolic diagrams of life and spirit. Her work reveals the invisible architecture of growth and energy — a way of painting what the eye cannot see but the soul can sense. Her legacy is also echoed in Hilma and Engla, where the language of art becomes a conversation across time and realms.

In a more contemporary way, Olafur Eliasson continues this dialogue through installations that transform natural phenomena — light, ice, mist, reflection — into immersive experiences of perception. His works remind us that we are not observers of nature but participants in its unfolding abstractions.

Both Hilma and Olafur embody a distinctly Nordic sensitivity to nature — one rooted in light, silence, and transformation — where abstraction becomes a bridge between the physical and the metaphysical.

The 2025 Nobel Prizes — Revealing the Hidden Structures of Life

The 2025 Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Medicine offer profound reminders of this same creative logic — that both art and science are acts of seeing the invisible.

In Chemistry, Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar Yaghi were honored for developing metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) — crystalline architectures capable of capturing gases, filtering water, and creating porous spaces where molecular life unfolds. They design materials that breathe, expanding the boundaries of what structure can mean.

Read more on Reuters

Screenshot

In Physiology or Medicine, Mary Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi revealed how the immune system sustains balance through regulatory T cells — cells that restrain the body’s own defenses, maintaining tolerance amid complexity. They showed that life depends not only on action, but on discernment and pause.

Read more on The Guardian

As someone from a country that shares in the proud tradition of the Nobel legacy, these announcements resonate even more deeply. The prizes are not only a celebration of discovery — they are a reminder of how human imagination and inquiry transcend borders. From Stockholm to Kyoto, from laboratories to art studios, they reflect the same universal impulse: to seek patterns in complexity, to understand life through both rigor and wonder.

Both discoveries illuminate a shared truth: the essence of life is not chaos but organized fluidity — the same pulse that animates a tree’s growth or an artist’s intuition. Both science and art unveil the invisible architectures through which nature holds itself together.

You can explore the full list of laureates and announcements on the Official Nobel Prize website.

Why These Nobel Prizes Matter

Beyond their technical brilliance, these Nobel Prizes remind us why understanding matters:

They reveal invisible architectures.
MOFs and immune networks make tangible the unseen: the geometry of emptiness, the choreography of balance.

They unite precision and imagination.
Each discovery required the courage to imagine patterns beyond visibility — a union of artistry and logic that drives both invention and art.

They teach balance as survival.
The immune system’s restraint and the molecular framework’s openness echo a universal truth — that resilience is born from equilibrium, not excess.

They reconnect us to the intelligence of nature.
These laureates don’t conquer nature; they listen to it, learning from its patterns and harmonies — much as an artist listens to the rhythm of light and form.

They restore wonder.
In revealing structure within the invisible, they remind us that mystery is not the opposite of knowledge — it is its foundation.

Echoes in Art — From Molecules to Guardians

At the “Animal Guardians” exhibition at ART MUC, these themes take on symbolic form.

The sculptures and paintings there explore the sacred relationship between humanity and the natural world. Each animal form — abstracted, spiritual, protective — mirrors the same underlying geometry of life that science seeks to decode.

Placed in dialogue with your nature photographs and Novisali’s reflections, the exhibition becomes part of a larger composition — a continuum between observation, creation, and connection. Whether through pigment, pattern, or cell, we are always in conversation with the living order that sustains us.

Closing Reflection — The Pulse Beneath All Forms

To observe a cactus spine, a pine cone, or a small weave of leaves is to glimpse the same principles that govern galaxies and immune cells.

Nature’s wisdom lies not in its objects, but in its relationships — the subtle negotiations of tension and release, density and void, action and restraint.

Art and science, when at their best, are not separate languages but two dialects of the same conversation: one emotional, one analytical — both profoundly human.

They remind us that abstraction is not distance from the real, but intimacy with its essence.

To create, to observe, or to understand is to touch the same pulse — the quiet rhythm by which nature abstracts itself into being..

And perhaps the truest question that remains is this: When we look closely enough — through the microscope, the lens, or the soul — do we find nature abstracting itself, or do we find ourselves reflected within it?

Triangles, circles, and squares: three forms so simple a child can draw them, yet so profound that they have guided artists, architects, scientists, and seekers for millennia. They are not just geometry but a grammar of the world. In paintings, they set mood and rhythm. In photography, they guide the gaze and hold balance. In science and nature, they reveal hidden laws of strength, cycles, and growth. And in philosophy and spiritual traditions, they appear again and again as archetypes — aspiration, unity, grounding.

When we pay attention to these shapes, we begin to see them everywhere — in the rise of a roofline, in the orbit of a planet, in the frame of a photograph, in the sacred centers of faith. They remind us that form is never only surface, but meaning, memory, and metaphor.

The Triangle

The triangle is the shape of reaching. It points, it leans, it gathers energy to rise. In Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, Christ sits at the center of a perfect triangle, a geometry that steadies the whole composition and, at the same time, directs the eye upward toward transcendence. The triangle here becomes not only a compositional tool but a symbol of balance, divinity, and the tension between earth and heaven.

The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci

Artists and photographers have long trusted the triangle for its ability to create movement and equilibrium. In architecture, towers, gables, and pyramids rise in triangular silhouettes, embodying both stability and aspiration. The triangle is dynamic: an upright form suggests strength and harmony, while an inverted one hints at imbalance, fragility, even danger.

Science confirms what the eye intuits: the triangle is the strongest of shapes. Bridges stand on triangular trusses, each side leaning into the other, refusing collapse. At the microscopic level, molecules often arrange themselves in triangular or tetrahedral patterns, revealing that even nature depends on the strength of this archetype.

The alchemy symbol

Symbolically, the triangle has carried multiple meanings. In alchemy, the upward triangle was fire, spirit, striving; the downward triangle was water, receptivity, surrender. In Christianity, it became the Trinity — three distinct, one eternal. In every context, the triangle holds tension: balanced yet dynamic, grounded yet always pointing beyond itself.

Reflective Question: What is your triangle right now — what are you reaching toward, and where do you feel the tension of balance in your life?

The Circle

Where the triangle points, the circle embraces. It is the line with no beginning and no end, the form of wholeness and eternal return.

Several Circles by Kandinsky

Kandinsky called it the most spiritual of shapes, and in his Several Circles, they float like planets suspended in cosmic rhythm, vibrating with unseen harmony. Across cultures, circles have been used to map both the universe and the soul. In Hindu and Buddhist traditions, mandalas unfold as intricate circles, representations of the cosmos and the path toward inner completeness.

ensō

In Zen practice, the ensō — drawn in a single breath — captures enlightenment, emptiness, and presence, all at once.

Circles guide the eye differently than triangles: they hold us, draw us in, and set us moving endlessly along their path. A round mirror reflects not only the subject but the endlessness of seeing. The curve of an arch softens edges and invites entry. A stone cast into water writes its memory in widening rings, a visible poem of cause and effect.

Nature, too, favors the circle. The orbits of planets, once traced by Kepler, reveal cycles of cosmic order. The rings of a tree mark time, each band a record of survival. Ripples move across a pond, carrying outward the energy of a single drop. Even our eyes — the portals of perception — are circles gazing out and in.

Philosophically and spiritually, the circle speaks of eternity and return. The ouroboros, the serpent devouring its own tail, illustrates the cycle of life and death unending. The Zen ensō embraces both everything and nothing, perfection and imperfection. The circle reminds us that life itself is cyclical — that what departs one day returns, changed but continuous.

Reflective Question: Where in your life do you sense circles — rhythms that repeat, cycles that return, or wholeness that holds you together?

The Square

If the circle belongs to heaven, the square belongs to earth. It is the form of grounding, order, and stability.

Black Square by Kazimir Malevich

In 1915, Kazimir Malevich unveiled his Black Square, a stark painting he called the “zero point of art.” Preserved today at the Tate, it still feels radical: a rupture with representation, a doorway into pure form. Mondrian later sought harmony in grids of squares and rectangles, balancing blocks of color to reflect universal order.

The square has shaped how we see. Square-format cameras like the Hasselblad or Rolleiflex demanded symmetry, while Instagram’s original square frame trained a generation to think in balance. The square insists on boundaries, on edges, on balance.

Salt Crystals

In nature, the square is less common but no less striking. Salt crystals grow as perfect cubes, miniature architectures of matter. Human culture has embraced the square fully: cities and houses are framed in rectangles, books rest as squares in the hand, and chessboards mark the logic of the mind’s battle.

Spiritually, the square carries grounding power. In Chinese cosmology, heaven was round, but earth was square — the infinite paired with the material. Native American medicine wheels divided life into four directions and four elements, rooting the circle of existence in the logic of four. At the heart of Islam stands the Kaaba in Mecca, a perfect cube circled endlessly by pilgrims, embodying the meeting of heaven’s infinity and earth’s solidity.

Reflective Question: What is your square — where do you feel grounded, stable, or held by the boundaries and structures in your life?

Shapes through My Lens

These archetypal forms are not only found in paintings, temples, or scientific models — they are also present in the very spaces we walk through. During one of our weekly Photography and Composition Challenges, I followed the thread of squares, triangles, and circles through the Stockholm City Hall, the venue where the Nobel Banquet is held each December. Moving through its architecture, I began to see how these shapes are not abstractions but living companions, guiding both structure and spirit.

The arcade outside Stockholm City Hall

The arcade outside Stockholm City Hall, designed by architect Ragnar Östberg, is carried by massive granite pillars and rounded arches inspired by Italian architecture. Circles appear in the arches and spheres, triangles in the bases of the markers, and squares in the stone blocks of the wall. Together they create a balance between strength and ornament, echoing Östberg’s vision of blending Italian grace with Swedish solidity.

Ceiling of the Council Chamber

Inside the Council Chamber, where Stockholm’s City Council meets, the ceiling becomes a tapestry of forms. Wooden beams cross into triangles and squares, while painted panels of stars and leaf ornaments bring circular rhythm to the space. Designed by Östberg and decorated by Axel Erdmann and Olle Hjortzberg, the hall embodies the National Romantic spirit — a meeting of technique, symbolism, and artistry.

The Prince’s Gallery, overlooking Riddarfjärden, shows how geometry and the human figure converse. Sculptor Carl Eldh’s relief of a powerful male form stands beside a gridded window, its strict squares contrasting with the organic body. Circles in the nearby spheres and the figure’s diagonal stance draw the eye into a dialogue of stability and motion, of art and architecture intertwined.

Closing

Triangle, circle, square. Three shapes, endlessly repeated. The triangle rising, the circle flowing, the square grounding. They appear on canvas, in photographs, in molecules, in the orbits of stars, and in the sacred centers of faith. They are more than geometry: they are metaphors for living.

Altarpiece, No. 1, Group X, Altarpieces, 1915 by Hilma af Klint,

To see them is to remember that life, too, has its shapes. We reach, we return, we root. And in their quiet presence, these forms remind us that aspiration, unity, and grounding are not only patterns in art but rhythms of existence.

Final reflection: Which of these shapes calls to you most strongly now — are you in a season of reaching like the triangle, flowing like the circle, or grounding like the square?

From Reflection to Encounter

This reflection on shapes does not remain only in words. On October 10-13 2025, these silent shifts of perspective will find form in public space at Art Fair ARTMUC Munich, where Novisali’s guardians — Fox, Bear, Eagle, and Hedgehog — will be shown with Galeria Gaudi.

Each guardian carries its own shape of vision — a triangle’s reach, a circle’s embrace, a square’s grounding — each a way of seeing and protecting. They invite visitors to move closer, to circle, to pause. In the exhibition hall, the play of forms deepens: light, distance, and the movement of others turn still images into living encounters. Shapes emerge not only within the works, but also in the spaces between them, in the sightlines that cross the fair’s hundreds of voices in art.

What was once inward reflection becomes shared discovery. To follow the line of a triangle, the curve of a circle, the frame of a square, is to step, to lean, to look anew — together, in Munich. Read more about the exhibition here.

What is an angle, if not a meeting point?

The Hidden Architecture of Angles

Two lines converging, a pause in their journey, a moment of decision. Angles shape the way we see, the way we move, the way we create. They are quiet signposts, telling us where to turn, how to climb, and what to notice.

In art, angles guide the eye across the canvas. A diagonal pulls us forward, a triangle lifts us upward, a curve softens the edge of conflict. They hold both balance and tension, structure and freedom.

In nature, angles are everywhere — the hexagons of a honeycomb, the crystalline perfection of snow, the branches splitting from a trunk in purposeful directions. Each one a reminder that even the smallest forms of life build on geometry, precision, and intention.

NASAs famous picture on the blue dot (the earth) – can you see it?

In The Marginalian’s The Consolations of the Telescopic Perspective, the writer invites us to step beyond the narrow field of our own moment — to zoom out, to tilt upward or outward. That is exactly what I’m suggesting when I say: shift your angle.

And in life, angles invite us to shift perspective.
Seen from above, a landscape unfolds as patterns we could never notice at ground level. From below, the towering shapes of architecture or trees remind us of scale, strength, and awe. From the side, light casts unexpected shadows that reveal new textures.

William Merklin, A. M. Ferris Estate, ca. 1936 – Source

I was also struck by a series of watercolour estate plans in The Public Domain Review — sweeping aerial views that collapse height, ground, and line into one frame. From above, the gardens, paths, and fences become geometry. What looks ordinary on the ground becomes extraordinary when lifted into another dimension.

Three Photographs, Three Angles

During a recent photography and composition session, three images reminded me how profoundly angles shape meaning:

The first image gazes upward, where a pale column ascends into a flawless blue. Seen from below, the angle stretches its height into infinity, turning concrete into aspiration. The geometry is sharp yet serene, a dialogue between earthbound weight and skyward lightness. The strength lies in its clarity, though the austerity leaves little warmth—like a promise kept at a distance.

The second view tilts gently upward toward a sculpture of steel and silence. Curved arcs rise like sails, caught in an unseen wind, while a lone figure sits suspended within. The angle lends motion, as if the form itself leans into journey. Here strength lies in rhythm and the human touch, yet the seated figure, seen from below, feels untouchable—balanced between presence and absence.

The third frame looks almost straight down upon a duck adrift in rippling light. The angle flattens the scene, so that feathers become tapestry and water transforms into shifting glass. Serenity rests in the stillness of the bird against the restless surface. Yet the patterns threaten to steal attention, as if reminding us that calm often exists only when seen from the right angle.

The Courage to Tilt the Lens

To look from another angle is to see a familiar scene differently — what once felt sharp may soften, what seemed like a wall may reveal itself as a path. Angles are metaphors for choices, for pivots, for the courage to explore new directions.

Where angles meet, there is connection.
Two paths crossing, two ideas aligning, two lives intersecting — each encounter forming a point that changes the lines that continue onward.

Perhaps angles are less about edges and more about possibilities. They are the moments in between, when direction is not fixed but waiting for us to choose.

So the next time you find yourself standing still, try tilting the lens.
Look from above, from below, from the side.
Shift your angle.

What you discover may not be new, but it may be seen anew — and that can be enough to change everything.

From Reflection to Encounter

This reflection on angles does not remain only in words. On October 10-13 2025, these silent shifts of perspective will step into public space at Art Fair ARTMUC Munich, where Novisali’s guardians — Fox, Bear, Eagle, and Hedgehog — will be shown with Galeria Gaudi.

Each carries its own angle of vision, its own way of seeing and protecting, inviting visitors to move closer, to circle, to pause.

Patterns and Forms

We meet them everywhere—
in the spiral of a shell,
the rhythm of footsteps,
the geometry of a window.

They whisper of hidden order,
yet invite us to break and reshape them.
Perhaps that’s where beauty begins—
between the repetition and the surprise.

Nature-Inspired Patterns

Look closely at the natural world and you’ll see that it’s built on repetition and rhythm. Spirals unfurl in seashells, sunflowers, and pinecones, echoing the same geometry we find in swirling galaxies. Fractals shape the branching of trees, the veins of leaves, and even the network of rivers seen from above.

Mathematicians call it the Fibonacci sequence, a numerical rhythm where each number is the sum of the two before. Designers and architects have long borrowed this sequence to create harmony that feels both intentional and organic.

Perhaps we’re drawn to these forms because they echo a hidden order of the universe, reminding us that beauty often lies in repetition dressed in endless variation.

Patterns in Human Creativity

Just as nature repeats, so too does human creativity. Textiles reveal centuries-old weaves of rhythm and motif. Architecture rests on repeated arches, columns, and lattices. Music, too, is a play of recurring notes and pauses, where repetition creates harmony and variation adds life.

Across cultures, patterns are visual languages. In Islamic art, geometric designs honor infinity and balance. African weaving carries stories and heritage within its repeating motifs. Nordic folk designs transform simple stitches into snowflake-like forms passed down through generations.

It leads us to wonder: do patterns connect us across cultures more than we realize?

Forms as Symbols

Beyond their beauty, forms carry meaning. A circle suggests wholeness and eternity. A triangle stands for stability or the sacred. A spiral embodies growth, evolution, and journey.

Artists and thinkers have long relied on these shapes to explore profound ideas. Kandinsky saw shapes as vessels of emotion and spiritual resonance. Hilma af Klint used spirals and abstract geometry to express mystical truths. The Bauhaus movement reduced design to circles, squares, and triangles—believing that simplicity could convey universality.

Forms, it seems, are not only seen but also felt.

Breaking the Pattern

Yet there comes a moment when patterns become predictable, even confining. Innovation often arises not from repeating, but from breaking.

Think of the beauty in cracked pottery, where the imperfection becomes the focal point. Or in irregular brushstrokes, where chaos interrupts harmony. Jazz musicians thrive on improvisation—playing with the pattern until it transforms into something unrepeatable.

Sometimes the beauty lies not in the form, but in the fracture.

Patterns Through My Lens

As part of my weekly photography and composition practice, I set out to capture a catch of intriguing patterns and forms. These moments, discovered almost by chance, reveal how much rhythm and surprise surrounds us when we look closely.

Torsplan – (picture 1) Even in something as ordinary as the design of a tower entrance and its intercom, I found rhythm and repetition. These small discoveries remind me that patterns are everywhere, not just in grand designs, but also in thresholds we pass each day.

Helix Tower, 16th floor and Helix Art Place – (picture 2) By happy accident, we entered a closed exhibition by Jesper Blom. His art filled the space with surprise, especially a painted window depicting a Swedish-Indian version of midsummer, framed by a view over the Karolinska area. From above, I also noticed the running track hidden on a rooftop—a pattern of movement stitched into the cityscape.

Forskaren, seen from Park Norra stationsparken – (picture 3) The large leaf and plant sculptures caught my attention. Both playful and monumental, they form a sheltering canopy for a seating area, reminding me that patterns in architecture can invite rest as well as admiration.

Karolinska Institutet, Aula Medica foyer – (picture 4) A digital waterfall, Falling Water, flows against a starry installation of 95 hand-cut crystal cones by professor Ingegerd Råman. Through my lens, the movement of water and the geometry of light became a dialogue between nature and design.

Through this weekly lens, I’ve come to see patterns as both a personal practice and a universal language—a way of noticing the world that deepens my creativity and connection.

An Invitation to Notice

Patterns and forms aren’t just distant concepts—they live in our daily lives. The way light casts through a window at a certain hour. The routes we unconsciously walk each day. The rhythm of conversation with a friend.

I invite you to notice these patterns. Photograph them, sketch them, or simply pause to recognize them. In doing so, you may discover that life itself is a canvas of repetition and surprise, a dance of forms waiting to be seen.

Closing Thought

Patterns and forms are more than shapes and structures—they are the hidden language around us. They remind us that we live within a universe of rhythm, resonance, and renewal. And perhaps the truest art is to notice them, honor them, and sometimes, dare to break them.

(Läs denna historia på svenska HÄR)

The Threads That Continue

A heartfelt thank you to all who visited Novisali’s exhibition Eyes Woven in Time in Stocksund, Sweden (Sept 6–7, 2025), you can see a video from the exhibition below.

And extra warm thank you to those who welcomed the artworks into your homes, allowing the guardians to continue their journeys alongside you.

The exhibition unfolded as a meeting place between art and presence, where nature’s guardians lifted their gaze to meet yours — silent companions offering courage, resilience, and wisdom as we move through the shifting landscapes of time.

Though the doors in Stocksund have closed, the threads of Eyes Woven in Time ripple outward. Like a fabric woven of myth, memory, and art, the exhibition now stretches into new forms and places.

Earlier reflections on these guardians have taken shape across three blogposts: Guardians of the Invisible Thread, Finding Our Place in the Wild, and Human Renaissance: When Guardians guide Innovation. Together, they asked what it means to be seen by nature, to rediscover our kinship with the wild, and to carry guardianship into digital space. (these blogposts can be found below)

Today, those threads take on three new continuations:

One artwork remains present, quietly watching over visitors at Danderyds Konsthall.

Two works will soon travel across borders, finding new resonance at Art MUC in Munich.

A digital room opens, gathering the parts of the exhibition not bound to traditional walls, extending the guardians into new, intangible landscapes.

Still on Display at Danderyds Konsthall

In the gallery space of Danderyds Konsthall, a single guardian still stands. Rooted in physical presence, it reminds us that some encounters are only possible when we share the same air, light, and silence.

Here, guardianship becomes grounding. The artwork rests against the Konsthall’s walls like a stone in the riverbed of time. Visitors enter not only to see it, but to feel themselves woven into its rhythm — present, embodied, and part of the continuum of gaze.

This is an unrepeatable meeting. The eyes of the guardian do not travel through pixels; they hold you in the room itself, asking for stillness, attention, and the willingness to stand in time. In that moment, both artwork and viewer become part of the same woven fabric.

Reaching Across Borders to ART MUC

From Sweden, two guardians now prepare to journey to Munich. Their crossing is more than geographical — it is symbolic. They carry the wild whispers of the North — fox and bear — into a new cultural landscape, where their gaze will be met by unfamiliar eyes.

To send guardians abroad is to release them into dialogue. They become emissaries of both art and spirit, bridging geographies and sensibilities. Their presence in Munich speaks to the universal language of guardianship: no matter the culture, the tradition, or the myth, we recognize the silent power of an animal gaze.

This journey reminds us that guardianship is never solitary. It is carried across borders, translated into new conversations, and rooted into new communities. Thus, the threads of Eyes Woven in Time stretch beyond Sweden’s forests into Europe’s wider fabric of art and imagination.

Entering the Digital Room

A third path opens not in a gallery or fair, but in the digital realm. Here, the guardians take forms that could not be confined to walls: moving poems, augmented realities, and layered reflections

The digital room is more than a continuation — it is an expansion. It reframes guardianship for our age, where encounters are no longer bound by geography. Here, artworks breathe differently:

Silk-prints — Flowing works on silk, alive both as scarves to wear and as protective pieces to hang on your wall. Some gather animals in vivid harmony; others conceal Pixel Guardians, revealed only to those who know how to see.

Glass-prints — Frosted glass lanterns holding foxes, bears, lynxes, and other companions, their watchful gazes glowing from within light and shadow.

The Book (in Swedish) — Guardians of the Invisible Thread — a journey into the forest’s depth, where encounters with animals mirror courage, presence, and harmony. A treasure for both children and adults, to be read alone or shared together.

Faux Teddy Prints — Playful yet meaningful, these soft sculptures bring guardianship into everyday life — to hold close as symbols of warmth and companionship.

To enter the digital room is to step into another kind of guardianship. Here, we are asked not only to look, but to choose: where will we place our attention, how will we carry what we encounter, what threads will we weave into our own stories?

The guardians remind us: even across pixels, presence is possible. Meaning is not diminished in digital form — it is transformed, stretched, and carried into new kinds of continuity.

Enter the digital art room

Becoming Active Seers and Guardians Across Realms

In Eyes Woven in Time, the first invitation was simple: to be seen by the guardians. Standing in front of a lynx, wolf, or owl, one could feel the silent exchange — the gaze that carried memory, presence, and resilience. In the exhibition hall, this encounter was embodied and immediate.

But as the works now travel, the gaze transforms. The viewer is no longer only the one who looks, but the one who carries the gaze forward. We shift from passive spectators to becoming active seers.

In the physical world, guardianship is an ancient calling. It begins with presence — the courage to open our eyes to what is fragile and fleeting, to see the shimmer of life in a wingbeat, a pawprint, a whispering tree. To be a guardian here is to stand in defense of balance: the balance of ecosystems, of memory, of human responsibility within the great web of being. It reminds us that we are not separate from nature’s story, but characters within it — carriers of tales that must not be forgotten.

In the digital world, guardianship becomes something new, something visionary. It is no longer only about protecting what we can touch. It is about shaping the invisible architectures of attention and meaning. Every act of noticing online is a choice of stewardship. Every amplification of beauty or wisdom is an act of resistance against the flood of noise. Every story preserved and shared is a seed planted in the soil of tomorrow.

In this realm, guardianship is not passive — it is active weaving. We are no longer merely consumers of images; we are weavers of significance. Each of us holds a thread in the vast tapestry of the digital cosmos, and the patterns we create matter. When we choose to honor art, story, or truth, we become guardians not of a single place or time, but of an interconnected reality that transcends borders.

Invitation to Reflect

To be a guardian now is to understand that pixels can carry presence, that silence can travel across screens, that even in the immaterial spaces of the digital, the gaze of an animal — or the gaze of our own deeper selves — can awaken us. It is to claim our role not only as witnesses of time, but as shapers of how time is remembered.

And so the invitation extends to you:
* When you pause to truly see, you are a guardian.
* When you carry forward a story that nourishes, you are a guardian.
* When you choose to weave meaning rather than noise, you are a guardian — across realms both tangible and unseen.

This is the evolution Eyes Woven in Time points toward: a guardianship that unites earth and ether, myth and technology, presence and transmission. A guardianship that insists we are capable of more than observation — we are capable of becoming the seers who guard the future, together.

Reflection for You

If guardianship means weaving meaning into the fabric of our time, what is the one thread you wish to carry and protect?

How might you practice being a guardian not only of nature, but of attention, memory, and beauty in the digital world you move through each day?

When you look back years from now, what do you hope your gaze — as seer and guardian — will have preserved for others?

Conclusion

Conclusion: Threads for the Future

Eyes Woven in Time has never been just an exhibition — it has been a practice of presence, a conversation between art, myth, and the gaze of the wild. Though its first chapter in Stocksund is complete, its life continues in many forms: grounding us in Danderyd, crossing borders to Munich, and opening into a digital realm where guardianship is reimagined for our age.

What unites these paths is the reminder that guardianship is not bound by walls or mediums. It is a way of being. In every gaze we meet, whether in a gallery, across cultures, or through a glowing screen, lies an invitation to pause, to carry, to protect.

The guardians do not ask for perfection; they ask for presence. They call us to weave meaning where there is noise, to nurture what is fragile, to remember that we are not only witnesses of time but participants in its weaving.

May the threads of this exhibition inspire you to carry your own strand of guardianship — in the choices you make, in the stories you share, in the ways you choose to see and be seen. For when we live as guardians, the fabric of our shared future becomes stronger, more luminous, and more alive.

Innovation dazzles with speed.
AI writes, predicts, and designs.
Biotechnology reshapes life.
Digital platforms carry voices across the world in an instant.
Humanity has never been so equipped with tools of transformation.

And yet, something essential slips through our fingers. Despite smarter machines, productivity falters. Despite endless connectivity, loneliness deepens. Despite countless “well-being apps,” anxiety grows. Our attention is fractured, our rest unsettled, our sense of meaning thinned out like paper in the rain.

This is the humanity deficit: a hollow widening between what our inventions promise and what our souls require. We design tools that capture our gaze, but not sanctuaries where our spirits may rest, breathe, and flourish.

Yet history whispers that every imbalance carries within it the seed of renewal. The Renaissance itself was born from plague and upheaval, yet it bloomed into art, science, and humanism. Out of darkness, light returned. Today, at the edge of another great transition, we are invited to imagine not only a technological revolution, but a renaissance of humanity.

Listening to the Wild Pulse

To envision this renaissance, we must begin where life begins—in the wild. The wild is not an adversary, not a backdrop to human progress. It is the living pulse that sustains us, a mirror of resilience and belonging.

Rivers do not rush endlessly; they meander, gather, and release. Forests do not expand without end; they cycle, shed, and renew. Animals survive not by domination, but by attunement—by listening, adapting, balancing.

These patterns teach us that true progress is not acceleration, but belonging. It is the art of creating in rhythm with the larger web of life. A human renaissance will root its innovations not in exhaustion, but in ecology’s wisdom: circularity, reciprocity, regeneration.

The Silent Guardians

But renewal requires more than balance with nature. It requires memory and imagination—the ability to see ourselves not as isolated beings, but as keepers of a long and fragile thread.

In myth, the Norns wove the fates of gods and mortals alike. In art, guardians emerge: owls, foxes, deer, and bears, watching silently over us. Their gaze is steady, reminding us that we are part of something woven across centuries.

The invisible thread binds past to present, present to future. To forget it is to drift rootless, dazzled by novelty yet blind to consequence. To honor it is to live as guardians ourselves—strengthening the strands of connection between people, generations, and the Earth.

This is the work of renaissance: to reweave what has been frayed, and to remember that innovation without continuity is not progress, but amnesia.

From Acceleration to Meaningful Becoming

If we are to step into a new renaissance, three transformations must unfold:

From noise to presence. In a distracted age, presence becomes revolutionary. It is in attentive awareness, not restless speed, that clarity and imagination take root. Presence is the soil from which wonder and wisdom grow.

From survival to guardianship. Existence alone is not enough. It is in choosing to protect, to nurture, to renew that life gains depth and dignity.

From novelty to meaning. Innovation is not measured by what is new, but by what it restores—dignity, beauty, connection, and care.

These are not lofty ideals. They are the quiet practices by which humanity has always endured. They are the threads we must pick up again if our tools are to serve transformation rather than depletion.

The Dawn of a Human Renaissance

A renaissance is not nostalgia. It is not a retreat into the past, but the flowering of new possibilities grounded in ancient truths.

The Renaissance of the fifteenth century did not abandon science, commerce, or architecture—it reimagined them through the lens of humanism and art. It dared to ask not only what humans could achieve, but what it meant to be human.

Our age calls for the same courage. We cannot halt the tide of innovation, nor should we. But we can weave it differently. We can lace it with the wisdom of rivers and forests, with the vigilance of guardians, with the dignity of presence.

This is the essence of a human renaissance: to let our tools be guided by our humanity, rather than letting our humanity be bent to our tools.

The guardians are already watching, patient and unblinking.
The wild is already speaking, in rivers, forests, and skies.

The thread is already in our hands—fragile, yet strong enough to weave a future of dignity and care.
The question is not whether a renaissance is possible.
The truth is that it has already begun—
and together, we can weave it into a brighter, more human tomorrow.

On September 6–7, during the Danderyd Art Trail, you are invited to step into Eyes Woven in Time—an evocative journey by Novisali where wild Nordic animals emerge as invisible guardians of memory and myth.

Through delicate layers of watercolor and digital transformation, lynx, owls, bears, and reindeer appear as if from a dream—half hidden, half revealed—watching quietly from the thresholds between worlds. Their eyes hold echoes of time: the wisdom of ancestors, the resilience of nature, the silent promise of renewal.

These works are not simply images but invitations. They call us to slow our pace, to breathe more deeply, to listen to the unspoken rhythms that run beneath our lives. Between brushstroke and imagination, we are reminded that time is not linear but woven, and that within its threads lie wonder, humility, and belonging.

Each piece carries its own whisper—soft, insistent—telling us that we are part of something vast and enduring, far older than we remember and far more resilient than we often believe.

The collection is printed on eco-conscious materials—recycled aluminum, natural silk, and plant-based faux suede—bringing together artistic vision and environmental care. In form and in spirit, the works honor both the guardians they depict and the living planet they seek to protect.

(Texten på Svenska HÄR)

In our hyper-connected and often overwhelming world, it’s easy to feel an increasing disconnection from nature. Screens replace landscapes, and digital signals drown out the song of birds. Yet within us all lies a deep, often unconscious longing to reconnect—not to something new, but to an ancient harmony: a timeless kinship with the planet and all living things.

From Separation to Belonging

This is not about escaping reality, but about enriching it. When we become attentive observers, we see the world not as a backdrop to our lives, but as a complex, living web of which we are an inseparable part. To see in this way is a quiet yet heartfelt responsibility—an invitation to become guardians of what we love and wish to pass on.

Nature’s own stories are filled with ingenuity and resilience: a black woodpecker finding food deep within a tree, a beetle navigating by the stars. These moments remind us that problem-solving is not uniquely human, and that obstacles are a natural companion in all life. They also invite us to slow down, to shift from seeing nature as scenery to experiencing it as a teacher.

The key to this rediscovery is rarely found in grand expeditions or lengthy intellectual pursuits. It lives in the still moments—the flash of a fox’s tail disappearing into the undergrowth, the unwavering presence of an ancient oak, the tender gaze of a beloved animal. Here, in presence, blooms a deep, magnetic joy in simply being.

Throughout history, naturalists have shown us that animals carry an intelligence and secret knowledge we are only beginning to glimpse. Their memory, their foresight, their care—all speak of a rich inner life. This quiet wisdom is passed down like an invisible thread through generations, woven into the very fabric of time. To acknowledge this challenges human pride and opens us to a deeper reverence for other species—these invisible guardians of life’s cosmic pattern.

Finding our place in the wild is, at its heart, an act of de-selfing: stepping beyond our own worries and fears to attune to a greater rhythm—the rhythm of life itself. It is to love the simplicity of earthly existence and to find beauty in the delicate impermanence of all things. Here, in communion with nature, we find not only peace. We find an ineffable joy—a reminder of what it truly means to be alive.

Active Hope in a Living World

But in these times—when environmental loss and climate change are no longer distant warnings but lived realities—this communion must also become a foundation for hope. Not the vague, wishful kind of hope that waits for someone else to act, but an active, evidence-based hope: a hope grounded in what is real, in what is already working, and in our own capacity to contribute to change.

Nature itself offers the proof. Ecosystems do recover. Forests do regenerate. Species do return. When we look closely, we see that renewal is not an exception—it is the rule of life, repeated in countless forms. These “bright spots” anchor us, reminding us that decline is never the whole story.

Active hope invites us to work with the same principles nature has always used: adaptation, cooperation, persistence. It teaches us to face our fears without letting them harden into despair, to seek out stories of restoration and recovery, and to use our own strengths—whatever they may be—to protect and nurture what we love. It calls us to practice interspecies respect, recognizing agency not only in humans but in animals, plants, and ecosystems, and to lean on supportive communities when courage falters.

There are many dimensions to hope:

Hope that sparks personal action—believing that what you do matters.

Hope that fuels societal transformation—connecting awareness with agency to drive change at scale.

Hope rooted in purpose, regardless of outcome—finding meaning in the act of care itself, even when the future is uncertain.

When we allow the wild to be our guide, these dimensions are not abstract ideals—they are lived realities. In a single migration, a flock of cranes embodies persistence against odds. In the cooperation of a coral reef, countless species create abundance through mutual care. In the regeneration of a burned forest, life returns in quiet, determined waves.

And perhaps most importantly, we can let nature—and the wild animals themselves—be our guardians. In their presence, we see living proof that resilience is possible, that cooperation is powerful, and that renewal is always within reach. From them, we learn to become more hopeful, more courageous, and more deeply alive—carrying their quiet wisdom into how we live, lead, and care for the world.

If we follow their example, our hope will not be a fragile flame easily extinguished, but a living, breathing force—rooted in evidence, sustained by community, and strengthened by our shared belonging to this intricate, astonishing web of life.

In Practice: Weaving Our Own Threads

Hope becomes real when we give it shape in our daily lives. The threads we weave—through choices, rituals, and relationships—become part of a larger tapestry that connects us to the living world.

Pause and observe: Let the patterns of the natural world anchor your attention—the slow unfurling of a fern, the watchful gaze of a bird, the tide’s steady return.

Remember and imagine: Keep alive the threads you’ve inherited from those who came before, and spin new ones with care—visions of a world in which both humans and wild places thrive.

Guard with intention: Be the quiet protector of what matters most, acting not out of fear of loss, but from love for what endures.

Take guidance from your invisible wild guardian: Imagine the animal whose presence you carry with you—a lynx, an owl, a reindeer—letting its instincts, patience, or courage guide your choices when the path ahead feels uncertain.

By practicing in this way, we join the long lineage of guardians—human and more-than-human—who keep life’s web strong.
